Dilemma

In which our Young Hero wonders about not only the weirdness, but also appropriateness, of asking out a co-worker for a drink or 12, when our Young Hero is quite uncertain of said co-worker's sexual orientation.

There have been only two (very) brief encounters, but both were giggly and could possibly be described as flirty. Our Young Hero, however, got absolutely no gay vibe whatsoever. Though there was a giggly, maybe flirty vibe. By the way, it's not this guy.

I don't know: is that weird? He sure is hot. And giggly. And has an amazing butt.

Well tonight he came in to buy some beer for his sister's birthday and came through my line. Of course, I was working Express, so that doesn't mean anything, but I'm going to pretend like it does. He smiled a lot and was pretty chatty when I was "checking him out."

Don't do it.

Seriously don't.

Get to know him first. This isn't just because you don't even know if he's gay or not.

Let's pretend he is gay. He could still be an asshole or a freak. In the non-work world, finding this out by dating him is no big deal.

But in the work world, the same situation could cause you no end of grief because you have to see him ALL THE TIME and you CAN'T ESCAPE IT.

Spend time getting to know the guy socially and casually first. Spend a LONG LONG LONG time.
